Spray

Spraying equipment used in the application of thermoplastic material can be either self contained units or truck mounted.

The principle of operation is the same in both cases. The hot material, stored in a heated and stirred boiler, is sprayed under pressure through a nozzle onto the road surface.

Spray thermoplastic has a different formulation to that of Screed or Extrusion thermoplastic; it needs to be heated to higher temperature in order to achieve its spray effect.

Glass beads are sprayed onto the hot material via a second nozzle fed from a hopper. The glass bead should be embedded in the hot material, but not submerged.

Typical lines created by the Spray process are lines 100mm -250mm in width and 1mm – 2mm in thickness. These types of lines are ideal for temporary delineation or renewal of old existing lines.

All the equipment used in the Spray application are custom built in house by Kelly Bros (Roadlines) Ltd for our operatives to deliver optimum precision while road marking.
