Screed
The Manual screed consists of a hopper which feeds to a thermoplastic rectangular screed at the base. The machine is fitted with a manual stirrer and screed cut-off. The machine does not normally have a mechanism for delivery of glass beads to the marking surface. Therefore, manually screed-laid markings have little reflectivity when laid unless glass beads are applied to the surface. Markings without surface glass beads need to be trafficked for a number of weeks before the glass beads in the material become effective.
When immediate reflectivity is required with screed-laid markings we use a manually operated glass bead dispenser to distribute the glass beads on the marked surface.
Because of uneven texture depths of the road surface it can be difficult to apply thin lines using the manual screed. Therefore, lines laid by screed generally fill the road texture and give a line profile which is the above the road.
Typical markings created using the screed application are letters, numerals, arrows, chevrons, rumple strips, stop bars and speed bars.
All equipment used in the screed application are custom built in house by Kelly Bros (Roadlines) Ltd for our operatives to deliver optimum precision while road marking.
